This page explains the problem with Nevada
We show that
Neighborhoods decay when transportation duties are borne by one street
Through the first 50 years, duties were spread throughout the Old North End
Nevada became the main route to Denver in the 40’s, initiating decline
Still, Cascade maintained 70% as much traffic as Nevada, preventing neighborhood collapse
Since 1980s, traffic volume throughout ONEN has been falling, improving livability
However, increased speeds results in deadly conditions: 6 fatalities since 2002
In past 5 years, city has transferred transportation burden from Cascade to Nevada
Result: violation of 120+ years of grid and equitable distribution
